Universal Embassy consists of 3 photographs of buildings which have housed the Somalian Embassy. Since 1991, following a bloody civil war, Somalia has become a stateless territory: its legations found themselves representing a country that does not exist; at least this was the situation in 2006, when Universal Embassy was created.
The photographs were taken in two countries which has links with Somalia's colonial past (a country which was created in 1960 as an independent state, from the union between Italian Somalia and the English colony of Somaliland) and in Belgium, where the occupation of the building by sans papiers led to demands for the rights of citizenship.
In the exhibition, the work is accompanied by a written text.
